Ayodhya, March 27: The holy city of Ayodhya is celebrating the auspicious festival of Ram Navami, marking the birth of Lord Ram, with great devotion and grandeur. Since morning, a massive influx of devotees has been witnessed. Pilgrims are seen standing in long queues at temples after taking a holy dip in the Sarayu River.
The atmosphere is filled with chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” creating a vibrant devotional ambiance. At the ghats of the Sarayu River, crowds of devotees extend for nearly 500 meters. Many have traveled from distant places and are heading towards the temples after their ritual baths. Traditional Sohar songs are being sung by women, while bhajans and kirtans fill the air, enhancing the spiritual experience. Earlier in the morning, a special aarti was performed, and Lord Ram was adorned in yellow attire.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has commenced the darshan process an hour earlier than usual, which will continue until 11 PM. Authorities estimate that around 1 million devotees will attend this year, compared to an average of 70,000 on regular days. The paths leading to the Ram Temple, including the Bhakti Path and Ram Janmabhoomi Path, have been laid with red carpets. Canopies and shades have been installed along the 600-meter Bhakti Path and the 800-meter Ram Janmabhoomi Path. Drinking water facilities have been arranged at 200 locations, and LED screens are set up to assist devotees in viewing the rituals.
After the birth of Ram Lalla, a feast consisting of 56 different dishes will be offered. Comprehensive security measures have been implemented, dividing Ayodhya into several zones and sectors. This includes increased CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, and the deployment of plainclothes security personnel. Paramilitary forces, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and civil police are on high alert. Additionally, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are stationed at the ghats. A fire tender team that previously served during the Prayagraj Kumbh has also been called in.
District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram stated that the priority is to ensure the convenience of the devotees, allowing each pilgrim to have a smooth and safe experience. Senior officials, including ADG Zone Praveen Kumar, are present on the ground, continuously monitoring the event. A special inspection of the temple complex security was conducted by commandos a day prior. The entire city has been adorned for this grand occasion, blending faith, devotion, and modern arrangements, transforming Ayodhya once again into a center of spiritual energy.
