New Delhi, March 27: The police team from Mayur Vihar in East Delhi has apprehended a habitual vehicle thief involved in a motorcycle theft case. Following the suspect’s identification, the stolen motorcycle has been recovered. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
On March 25, a complaint was filed by Sandeep Kumar at the Mayur Vihar police station, leading to the registration of an e-FIR. Kumar reported that his Hero Splendor motorcycle was stolen from outside his home during the night of March 24-25, 2026. Upon receiving the complaint, the police promptly initiated an investigation.
Taking the case seriously, a special police team was formed under the supervision of the Mayur Vihar station house officer (SHO) and the assistant commissioner of police (ACP). The team included Sub-Inspector Ajay Sharma, Head Constable Rakesh Kumar, and Constable Rajee Ram. They conducted an extensive analysis of CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and carried out thorough ground investigations. Local intelligence was gathered based on tips from informants, and technical surveillance was initiated to locate the suspect.
After persistent efforts, the accused, identified as Tushar, also known as Gattu, was arrested. During questioning, he confessed to the theft, leading to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle. Further investigations are underway to determine his involvement in other similar vehicle theft cases.
The police reported that Tushar, aged 22, is a resident of Trilokpuri and has previously been implicated in six other cases, primarily related to theft and violations of the Arms Act. Authorities are now proceeding with legal actions in this case.
