Australia Women’s Cricket Team Secures Victory Over West Indies by 90 Runs in Second ODI

Saint Kitts, March 30: The Australia Women’s Cricket Team triumphed over the West Indies by 90 runs in the second ODI held at Warner Park. Chasing a target of 270 runs set by Australia, the West Indies were bowled out for 179 runs. With this victory, Australia has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

The West Indies started their innings positively, with Kiana Joseph and captain Hayley Matthews adding 57 runs for the first wicket in 11.4 overs. Joseph scored 27 runs before being dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner. Stephanie Taylor began well but was bowled out by Georgia Wareham after making 18 runs. Deandra Dottin failed to score and was caught by Litchfield off Wareham’s bowling.

Captain Hayley Matthews managed to score 45 runs from 73 balls, hitting six boundaries. Chinelle Henry also struggled, returning to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs. The West Indies lost wickets at regular intervals, ultimately collapsing for 179 runs. In bowling, Ashleigh Gardner took three wickets for 34 runs in her 10 overs, while Georgia Wareham also claimed three wickets, conceding just 29 runs. Tahlia McGrath took two wickets, and Alana King added one more.

Earlier, Australia posted a total of 269 runs after losing seven wickets in their 50 overs. Beth Mooney played a crucial innings, scoring 65 runs off 104 balls. Phoebe Litchfield contributed 46 runs. Wareham, who took three wickets, also played a vital role with the bat, scoring 39 runs off 37 balls in the final overs. Nicola Carey remained unbeaten on 30 runs from 25 balls, while Alana King scored 26 runs. For the West Indies, captain Hayley Matthews took three wickets for 40 runs, and Afy Fletcher claimed two wickets. With this win in the second ODI, Australia has established a 2-0 lead in the series, having previously defeated the West Indies by 103 runs in the first ODI.
