New Chandigarh, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The Australia-A women’s cricket team secured a convincing victory over India-A in the first unofficial T20 match held in New Chandigarh on September 12. This win gives the visitors a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, with the next games scheduled for September 15 and 17.
Batting first after winning the toss, the Indian team struggled, finishing their innings at just 117 runs in 19 overs. They lost their first wicket early, with Dinesh Vrinda dismissed for just 1 run at a score of 4. Shipra Sharma then partnered with captain Anushka Sharma, adding 13 runs for the second wicket.
However, the Indian innings faltered further as Anushka was dismissed for 6 runs at a total of 17. Shipra managed to build a small partnership with Tejal Hasbunis, contributing 15 runs before Tejal was out for 22 off 15 balls, which included four boundaries. Minu Mani scored 23 runs, while Sayali Satghare remained unbeaten at 16.
On the bowling front, Australia’s Tess Flintoff was the standout performer, taking 4 wickets for just 13 runs in her 4 overs. Millie Illingworth and Siana Ginger each claimed 2 wickets, while Darcy Brown and Charlie Knott added 1 wicket apiece.
In response, Australia chased down the target successfully, losing 4 wickets in just 14 overs. Tahlia Wilson and Rachael Trenaman started strong, putting together a 21-run partnership for the first wicket. Rachael contributed 11 runs before Tahlia added 22 to the total.
Australia lost their second wicket at a score of 36, but Katie Mack stabilized the innings with a crucial 43-run partnership with Charlie Knott for the third wicket. Katie scored 18 runs off 15 balls, while Charlie finished with 35 runs, and Anika Leroy added 33 runs to help secure an easy victory. For India, captain Anushka Sharma took 2 wickets for 14 runs in 2 overs, and Jintimani Kalita also picked up 1 wicket for 14 runs.
