
Islamabad, March 1: In a series of attacks on police stations in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two police officers and six civilians were injured. Local media reported the incidents on Sunday.
According to the major Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’, the assaults occurred on Saturday at the Mattani and Badbher police stations, as well as the nearby Sarra Khawra police checkpoint. The police responded effectively to the attacks.
A senior police official stated that the Mattani police station was attacked from two directions. A hand grenade was thrown inside the Badbher police station from the Mera Mashokhel Road, injuring one officer.
In a third attack at the Sarra Khawra police checkpoint, one officer and six civilians were wounded. The assailants utilized hand grenades and modern weaponry during the assaults.
Superintendent Arshad Khan of the Saddar Division reported that the attackers employed advanced gadgets, including infrared cameras commonly known as night vision. Following the attacks, the assailants fled the scene. A search operation has been launched to apprehend them.
Earlier, on Tuesday, unidentified assailants targeted a police vehicle in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals, including six police officers.
Dawn reported that a senior police official indicated that the vehicle, transporting two detainees to court, was attacked, leading to the deaths of a Deputy Superintendent of Police, an inspector, and four constables. One of the two detainees also succumbed to injuries. The attackers subsequently set the vehicle ablaze.
On Monday, local media cited police officials stating that an ambulance carrying injured individuals in the Badarkhail area of Karak was attacked, resulting in the deaths of at least three members of the Federal Constabulary.
The District Police Officer informed Geo News that the injured were being transported to the hospital when they were attacked at a checkpoint in the Dargah Shaheedan area. Reports indicated that at least five officers were injured in the drone strike, while two rescue workers were also hurt in the ambulance attack.
There has been a noticeable increase in terrorist activities in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the ceasefire agreement between the government and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan ended in 2022.
