Mirzapur, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : The Samajwadi Party (SP) has made significant organizational changes in Mirzapur as it gears up for the 2027 assembly elections. Ashok Yadav has been reinstated as the district president, taking over from Devi Prasad Chaudhary, who has been relieved of his duties.
The decision was communicated through an official order issued from the SP’s central office in New Delhi. According to the memorandum released on Wednesday, Ashok Yadav, a resident of Civil Lines in Mirzapur, has been appointed as the acting district president with the approval of SP national president Akhilesh Yadav. The order bears the signature of the national president’s personal secretary, Gangaram.
Copies of the order were sent to national general secretary Prof. Ramgopal Yadav, the state president of the SP in Uttar Pradesh, the newly appointed acting district president Ashok Yadav, and the former district president Devi Prasad Chaudhary.
This change comes in response to the organization’s perceived inactivity and ongoing complaints within Mirzapur. With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the SP is focused on strengthening its grassroots structure. Mirzapur is considered a crucial district for the party in Purvanchal, where it aims to re-establish social alliances.
Ashok Yadav has previously served as the district president and is regarded as a strong leader within the organization. Known as a grassroots leader, he enjoys considerable support among party workers, which likely influenced the party’s decision to trust him once again.
The removal of Devi Prasad Chaudhary has sparked discussions, as sources suggest that his lack of activity in organizational matters and insufficient electoral preparations contributed to his dismissal.
