New Delhi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Semicon India 2026 on September 17 at approximately 10 AM in New Delhi’s Yashobhoomi. This event will take place just a day after he met with CEOs and CXOs from semiconductor companies during a roundtable conference held on the eve of the exhibition.
During the meeting, industry leaders expressed their gratitude to Modi for his continuous support of this vital sector. They noted the rapid evolution of the semiconductor industry, which has progressed from its nascent stages to ambitious project implementation in a short span.
Many companies are either already conducting research and development in India or planning to expand their activities in the country. Several participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue R&D efforts within India.
Industry representatives praised India’s semiconductor talent development program and expressed their intention to engage further in the future. They recognized India as a reliable partner, highlighting companies involved in precision manufacturing, product design, quality systems, and advanced manufacturing.
Discussions indicated clear preparations for new semiconductor ecosystem projects under Semicon 2.0. Participants likened India’s semiconductor journey to a Test match rather than a T20 game, emphasizing the need for sustained commitment. They also appreciated the Prime Minister’s long-term vision for the industry.
According to the Prime Minister’s office, the three-day conference and exhibition, themed “From Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem,” will run from September 17 to 19, 2026. It will bring together global and Indian companies related to the semiconductor and electronics value chain, along with policymakers, investors, researchers, startups, academic institutions, and students.
The primary goal of the conference is to promote collaboration, investment, innovation, and talent development in India. Parallel sessions will cover advancements in the display industry, facilitate collaborations through six country roundtables, and feature a platform focused on women leadership.
