He emphasized their indelible role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and unity while honoring the supreme sacrifices made by soldiers in service to the country.

Addressing a large rally of veterans, the Governor also discussed pension-related issues and welfare schemes. He praised the complete cooperation of civil administration in organizing the successful event.

According to Defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Atul Shridharan, the Indian Army organized a significant veterans rally titled “Strengthening Connect with Ex-Servicemen” in Likabali, Arunachal Pradesh. This event was conducted in close coordination with the state and district administrations of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh by the Spearhead Division of the Spear Corps.

The rally witnessed participation from over 1,500 veterans, Veer Naris, serving soldiers, their families, and dependents, showcasing the strong bond between the armed forces and the veteran community.

Lieutenant Colonel Shridharan noted that the primary aim of the rally was to reach out to veterans and address issues related to pension distribution irregularities, land and legal matters, and other significant challenges faced by veterans and their families.

Representatives from the State Soldier Board, district soldier welfare offices in Itanagar, Dibrugarh, and Lakhimpur, along with officials from the Principal Defense Accounts Office in Guwahati, the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, and various banks, were present at the venue to actively assist in resolving veterans’ complaints and provide necessary guidance and support.

Veterans were also made aware of rehabilitation plans facilitated by the Army Welfare Placement Organization, along with opportunities for second careers and re-employment.

To cater to the health needs of attendees, a comprehensive medical camp was organized.

The defense spokesperson stated that this rally proved to be a significant initiative in addressing the everyday challenges faced by veterans and Veer Naris. It provided a platform for direct dialogue with officials and strengthened the commitment of both the army and civil administration towards the welfare of the veteran community.
