New Delhi: Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has issued an apology for his conduct during the Premier League match against Liverpool on Friday. The 24-year-old was caught on camera pushing the injured Liverpool player Conor Bradley during stoppage time near the touchline. Martinelli appeared to believe Bradley was wasting time after the latter had fallen on the sidelines due to injury.
Martinelli was seen throwing the ball and engaging in a minor altercation with Bradley. Both Martinelli and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté received bookings during the match. After the game, Martinelli realised that Bradley’s injury was genuine and expressed regret for his actions. He apologised publicly via his Instagram story and also sent a written apology to Bradley.
In his Instagram story, Martinelli wrote, “I have already apologised to him. I truly did not understand how badly he was injured at that moment. I want to say I am very sorry for my reaction. I wish Conor a speedy recovery.”

Neville stated, “You cannot do that. It is very poor. An apology is needed. Bradley was being stretchered off. To be honest, I am very angry with Martinelli. It is shameful. Similarly, Roy Keane expressed his disapproval, recalling a time when he was badly injured and faced similar disrespect on the field. Keane commented, “I didn’t like it.
