Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi’s New Year Message on Security and Self-Reliance

New Delhi, 1 January. General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Indian Army, extended heartfelt New Year greetings to the citizens of India. He wished that the year 2026 brings happiness, good health, and prosperity to everyone across the nation.

The Indian Army shared General Dwivedi’s message through its official X handle. Addressing the nation, the Army Chief stated, “On the auspicious occasion of New Year 2026, I extend warm greetings to all countrymen on behalf of the Indian Army. The Indian Army is committed to the nation’s security with full vigilance and firm resolve.”

He added, “Last year, the enemy’s malicious intentions were met with a strong and decisive response under ‘Operation Sindoor’, which remains ongoing. Alongside vigilance at the borders, the Army has played a vital role in national progress by providing prompt assistance during disasters and contributing to nation-building efforts.”

General Dwivedi highlighted the ongoing transformation within the Indian Army, explaining, “The Army is undergoing a decade of change where unity, self-reliance, and innovation form the core pillars of our strategic strength. Through effective use of indigenous technologies, new ideas, and continuous improvements, we are making the Army more capable and future-ready. Networking and data-centric approaches are accelerating this transformation.”

Expressing gratitude to every citizen, the Army Chief said, “Your trust, cooperation, and unity are our greatest strengths. To achieve the goal of ‘Developed India 2047’, the Indian Army will continue its contribution to security and nation-building. Jai Hind.”

Meanwhile, on the occasion of the New Year, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh posted on the social media platform X, “As we welcome 2026, may this year deepen India’s collective resolve and renew our commitment to nation-building.”

He appealed to be inspired by India’s eternal civilisational values and urged everyone to work together with innovation, self-reliance, and unity to strengthen India’s security, prosperity, and global standing. The Defence Minister concluded by wishing everyone a year filled with progress, harmony, and unwavering national pride.
