New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which began on Monday. During this visit, General Dwivedi held a significant meeting with India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Dr. Deepak Mittal. The discussions focused on enhancing strategic cooperation, defence partnership, and military diplomacy between the two nations.
Both sides deliberated on increasing mutual military collaboration, expanding joint exercises, exploring new opportunities in defence technology, and strengthening logistical support. Defence experts consider this visit important for taking the strategic partnership between India and the UAE to the next level.
India-UAE relations have grown considerably stronger in recent years, especially in the defence sector where cooperation continues to deepen. General Dwivedi’s visit underscores the shared commitment of both countries towards regional security and joint strategic goals.
During his stay from January 5 to 8, General Dwivedi will also visit Sri Lanka after the UAE. Upon arrival in the UAE, he was accorded a guard of honour by the UAE Army. Throughout the visit, he is scheduled to meet senior officials of the UAE Armed Forces, including the Commander of the UAE Army, and gain insights into their military structure, roles, and capabilities.
General Dwivedi will tour key military establishments and visit the UAE National Defence College, where he will address the officers. According to the Ministry of Defence, these engagements aim to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, professional military relations, and strategic understanding between the armed forces of India and the UAE.
Earlier, at the end of October, Major General Yousuf Mayouf Saeed Al Hallami, Commander of the UAE Army, visited India officially. This visit was a milestone in deepening the longstanding ties between the two armies. During that trip, Major General Al Hallami had met with General Upendra Dwivedi, reinforcing the ongoing defence collaboration.
