Armed Robbers Steal ₹27 Lakhs from Cash Van in Patna

Patna, May 13: In a brazen daylight robbery, armed assailants targeted a cash van in the Gopalpur area of Patna, Bihar, on Wednesday. The robbers, brandishing weapons, surrounded a cash van belonging to CMS Company and made off with approximately ₹27 lakhs.

According to police reports, multiple police units arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the incident. They are currently interrogating the individuals aboard the van. The CMS cash van was en route to Fatuha after collecting cash from various commercial establishments when it was intercepted by five criminals on three motorcycles on the Sampatchak-Fatuha road.

The assailants violently assaulted the security guard and other occupants of the van, forcing them to open the vault before fleeing with the cash. Police Superintendent Parichay Kumar stated that the van did not adhere to any security protocols.

Local police were not informed about the transportation of such a large sum of money. The van lacked a CCTV camera and had its windows rolled down during the incident. Additionally, the vehicle was in a dilapidated condition. Kumar confirmed that an investigation is underway, with nearby CCTV footage being reviewed. Police have also set up roadblocks in surrounding areas.

Given the severity of the situation, a special team has been formed to address the case. Authorities are analyzing footage from cameras near the crime scene and escape routes. Police claim they will soon identify and apprehend the criminals, as they are investigating the case from all angles.
