
Jakarta, February 10: From February 7 to 9, a Chinese trade delegation led by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) hosted the first meeting of the 2026 APEC Business Advisory Council in Jakarta, Indonesia. This event marked the first significant business initiative of APEC’s “China Year.”
During the meeting, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, praised the vital role of the business community in promoting Asia-Pacific regional cooperation. He expressed hopes for the complete success of APEC’s “China Year” and anticipated participation in the 2026 APEC Summit, which will be held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Hartarto emphasized the importance of collaboration to drive regional shared prosperity.
Representatives from the Asia-Pacific business community engaged in in-depth discussions on four key areas: regional economic integration, sustainable development, digital innovation, and connectivity. They proposed several creative initiatives and selected “openness, connectivity, and synergy” as the annual theme. The attendees called for maintaining open markets in the Asia-Pacific region, accelerating economic integration, and strengthening innovation cooperation.
Additionally, the meeting received broad support for the reformation of the connectivity working group proposed by China.
Notably, over 200 participants attended the meeting, including senior officials from 21 APEC economies, representatives from the Business Advisory Council, and various experts.
