Mumbai: Actress Anu Aggarwal, famously known as the ‘Aashiqui girl’, survived a severe car accident in 1999 that changed her life forever. Despite being seriously injured and spending 29 days in a coma, Anu views the incident not as a wound but as a new beginning.
At the peak of her career, Anu suffered critical injuries to her face and jaw, and half of her body was paralysed. Doctors worked tirelessly for her recovery, but it was her own determination, yoga, meditation, and spirituality that helped her heal physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Sharing her journey on social media, Anu expressed deep reflections on her life after the accident. She wrote that what she truly shared was a life filled with impact, stillness, and presence. Looking back, she realises the accident was not a setback but the start of something new.
Since recovering, Anu has distanced herself from the film industry and embraced yoga as a teacher. She now runs a foundation dedicated to teaching yoga to underprivileged children and women, empowering them through this practice.
In addition to her work as a yoga instructor, Anu Aggarwal authored her autobiography, ‘Unusual: Memoir of a Girl Who Came Back from Dead’, detailing her inspiring comeback story.
