Amit Shah to Inaugurate Hindi Day 2026 in Mumbai

Mumbai, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address the opening session of Hindi Day 2026 and the sixth All India Language Conference in Mumbai on September 14.

An official statement revealed that the event, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, aims to celebrate the vibrant relationship between Hindi and Maharashtra’s rich linguistic, cultural, and literary traditions. Attendees will include Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Sunetra Pawar, along with various MPs, distinguished guests from different fields, scholars, writers, educators, and senior officials from various central government departments and ministries.

Since 2021, the Ministry of Home Affairs has been organizing the All India Language Conference annually. During the inaugural session of this two-day event, Amit Shah will present the ‘Rajbhasha Gaurav’ and ‘Rajbhasha Kirti’ awards for the year 2025-26. These awards recognize institutions and individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of official languages.

The inaugural session and subsequent discussions will also feature the launch of several important books and publications. Notably, a special commemorative issue of the Rajbhasha Department’s magazine, ‘Rajbhasha Bharti,’ will focus on the national song ‘Vande Mataram.’ Other publications include ‘Bharatiya Gyan Tantra: Source and Form,’ ‘Shiv Anadi Hai, Anant Hai,’ and a collection of works by prison inmates titled ‘Andheron Se Ujhalon Tak.’

A highlight of this year’s conference will be a special discussion session centered on ‘Vande Mataram,’ featuring Joydeep Chattopadhyay, a descendant of the song’s creator, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The conference will also include a session dedicated to the role of Town Official Language Implementation Committees.

Additionally, a special exhibition will be held at the conference venue, showcasing stalls from various institutions, organizations, banks, and ministries.
