Srinagar, July 17: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam on Friday to assess the arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra. During his visit, he held a review meeting with senior officials to evaluate the facilities provided to the pilgrims. He instructed all relevant departments to work in mission mode to ensure the comfort and safety of the devotees.
Sinha shared updates on the social media platform ‘X’, noting that the Amarnath Yatra has completed its first 15 days. Over 350,000 pilgrims from across the country have visited the sacred cave to pay their respects to Lord Shiva. He expressed satisfaction that, with divine blessings, the pilgrimage is running smoothly and that there is tremendous enthusiasm among the devotees.
He highlighted the significant number of pilgrims arriving from various states to visit Baba Amarnath. The cooperation from local citizens, volunteer organizations, and service providers along the pilgrimage route has been commendable. Together, they play a crucial role in ensuring the journey is safe, organized, and successful.
During the review meeting, the Lieutenant Governor meticulously examined the basic facilities available along the pilgrimage route and at the base camps. He inquired about arrangements related to drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, telecommunications, accommodation, sanitation, medical facilities, and food quality. He emphasized the need for better coordination among all departments to prevent any inconvenience to the pilgrims.
Manoj Sinha directed officials to complete all tasks related to the pilgrimage in mission mode and to ensure prompt solutions to any challenges that arise. He reiterated that the safety and comfort of the pilgrims are the administration’s top priorities, and all agencies must work with full commitment for the successful operation of the Yatra.
