
New Delhi, April 18: The government announced on Saturday that all Indian sailors in West Asia and the Gulf region are completely safe. In the last 24 hours, no unpleasant incidents have been reported involving any Indian-flagged vessels.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that the Directorate General of Shipping has assisted in the safe return of over 2,487 Indian sailors. This includes the return of 34 sailors in the past 24 hours from various locations in the Gulf region.
According to the official statement, operations at all Indian ports are continuing normally, with no reports of crowding or disruptions.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has taken necessary measures to ensure the safety of Indian ships and sailors operating in the region. The ministry is continuously coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian embassies, and maritime organizations to ensure the safety of sailors and uninterrupted maritime operations.
The Ministry of External Affairs is also closely monitoring the situation in the Gulf and West Asia, actively ensuring the safety of Indians residing there. The ministry regularly issues advisories that provide information on local government regulations, flight statuses, and consular services.
Indian embassies are in constant contact with the local Indian community, organizations, companies, and other stakeholders to provide immediate assistance when needed.
Flights are continuing from areas where airspace is open. Since February 28, approximately 1.068 million passengers have returned to India from the West Asia region.
Limited non-scheduled commercial flights are being operated between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India, with around 110 flights expected to operate today.
Additionally, regular flights to India are being conducted from several airports in Saudi Arabia and Oman.
The government also reported that the Indian embassy in Tehran has facilitated the return of 2,373 Indian citizens from Iran to India via Armenia and Azerbaijan. This includes 1,041 students and 657 fishermen.
The government assures that it is monitoring every situation and taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of Indian citizens.
