Mumbai, March 26: Actor Akshay Kumar is currently hosting the reality quiz show ‘Wheel of Fortune.’ During the show, he emphasized the importance of valuing time. He referenced his film ‘Waqt: The Race Against Time,’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, to illustrate that real life is not like the movies.
In the film, Bachchan plays Ishwarchand Thakur, a responsible father who wants to teach his wayward son Aditya, played by Kumar, a vital life lesson. When Ishwarchand learns he has cancer, he makes a tough decision to ensure his son becomes responsible.
Akshay shared that ‘Waqt’ is one of his special films, and a particular line from it changed his life. He stated, “There’s a line in the film that goes, ‘It’s okay, son, he will improve,’ but in reality, that’s not how it works. We often think we can improve tomorrow or later, but time waits for no one.”
He also mentioned the saying about making hay while the sun shines, stressing the need to act when opportunities arise, or face regret later.
Addressing a contestant named Rohit, Akshay candidly said, “Rohit, I’m telling you the truth, time waits for no one.”
He recounted his own struggles with academics, revealing that he started working at the age of 14. He realized that he needed to take charge of his life.
Akshay concluded his message with a strong reminder: “Never think you can do something later. If you want to achieve something, start today. Otherwise, it may never happen. Time passes quickly, and looking back will only bring regret.”
Released in 2005, ‘Waqt: The Race Against Time’ is a successful emotional Bollywood family drama directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, and Shefali Shah. The film was a box office success.
