Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes Government, Promises Support for Farmers Ahead of Elections

Lucknow, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : The national president of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, took aim at the government on Wednesday, addressing issues related to farmers, the electoral process, and the state’s development. During a press conference held at the party’s office, he responded to questions about a third candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections, asserting that decisions in a democracy should be based on numerical strength. He indicated that the announcement for the third candidate would follow once the required numbers are confirmed.

Yadav also made pointed remarks about Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He showcased a video, stating that when the colors green and red unite, the flag of the Samajwadi Party will emerge. Green symbolizes farmers, while red stands for revolution. Together, these colors will drive a change in power, he claimed, emphasizing that farmers are being overlooked in the state. Although farmers’ votes are sought, he asserted that adequate action has not been taken for their welfare.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Yadav promised that if the Samajwadi Party comes to power, farmers would receive free water for irrigation, affordable electricity, and timely payments for crops and sugarcane within 24 to 48 hours. Regarding the Rajya Sabha elections, he reiterated that decisions would be based on numerical strength, with the third candidate’s name to be announced after the vote counting is complete.

Yadav discussed the potential for cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections, mentioning that several BJP legislators are in contact with the Samajwadi Party. However, he stressed the importance of managing these relationships carefully, indicating that the party does not want to make false promises it cannot keep.

He advocated for reducing the costs of agricultural equipment and machinery, and suggested initiating processing schemes for dairy, oilseeds, and pulses to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce. He highlighted the need for affordable fertilizers and opposed the use of nano fertilizers, asserting that the Samajwadi Party’s performance in Western Uttar Pradesh would be historic this time around.

Addressing questions about the nomination of industrialist Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani for the Rajya Sabha, Yadav expressed that this presents an opportunity to send a new generation and fresh perspective to the upper house. He argued that Uttar Pradesh needs more industries to boost income and create job opportunities.

Yadav invoked the ideals of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, emphasizing the need for equality in society. He criticized the BJP, stating that a trillion-dollar economy cannot be built merely on superficial efforts but requires a solid vision.

Reiterating allegations of vote theft and electoral fraud, Yadav claimed that a significant number of votes for the Samajwadi Party were siphoned off during the 2022 assembly elections. He suggested that recent media reports on electoral issues indicate the seriousness of vote theft and irregularities. He pointed to allegations of fake voting in Noida, calling for the courts to consider re-elections in West Bengal and Bihar.

Yadav asserted that the Samajwadi Party defeated the BJP in 2024 and would eliminate them in 2027. He described the BJP as a party of capitalists and wealthy elites. Regarding alliances with Congress, he confirmed that existing partnerships would remain, with electoral strategies focused on winning.

On the topic of former BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, Yadav noted their amicable relations, emphasizing unity on development issues in Uttar Pradesh. He also remarked on the need for transparency in the electoral process, questioning the necessity of the BJP’s new office and suggesting they could rent space at the Election Commission instead.

Yadav concluded by highlighting the importance of respecting the public’s vote and ensuring fairness in elections.
