Lucknow, August 17: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has launched a sharp attack on the BJP government regarding the flooding of roads in Prayagraj following recent rains. He shared a video from the George Town area, highlighting issues related to drainage systems, corruption, and the city’s development.
Akhilesh sarcastically remarked that contrary to historical trends where civilizations flourished along riverbanks, the roads in cities now resemble rivers under BJP rule. He stated on the social media platform X that history teaches us that cities developed along rivers, but under BJP governance, this scenario could apply to any city in Uttar Pradesh. The issue is not just about important cities.
The SP leader emphasized that corruption has led to such dire conditions in the state that roads frequently turn into rivers. He noted that the “smart city Prayagraj’s most affluent area, George Town,” is now submerged, even affecting the local police station. He questioned, “The public is asking why this area falls under the jurisdiction of the BJP MLA from the northern assembly constituency. Are these regions now flowing into the southern assembly constituency? The situation is similar everywhere, leading to confusion.”
He further commented, “I have heard that a scam of 1 lakh crore rupees has occurred regarding the development of Prayagraj under BJP rule.”
