Chennai, July 11: The AIADMK has announced plans to initiate an online membership enrollment campaign through its Information Technology (IT) wing. This initiative aims to strengthen the party’s organizational base, particularly among the youth. Additionally, it seeks to enhance the party’s control over its activities following reports of unauthorized events.
In a statement released on Saturday via its official social media platforms, the party indicated that the proposed digital membership campaign would provide a structured platform for young individuals interested in joining AIADMK, enabling them to participate in organizational activities officially.
This announcement comes in light of reports that some events were organized by ‘enthusiastic youth’ without the approval of party leadership. Clarifying its stance, AIADMK stated that after formally joining as members, youth could engage in party events through appropriate organizational channels.
The party also issued a clear warning that no events should be held without the approval of AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The statement emphasized the need for organizational discipline, reiterating that all activities must align with the leadership’s directives.
This declaration coincides with AIADMK’s comprehensive review of its performance in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. As part of this exercise, Palaniswami will hold consultation meetings with party officials from eight districts—Erode, Tiruvallur, Theni, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, Karur, Nilgiris, and Virudhunagar—on July 15, 16, and 18 at the party headquarters in Chennai.
These eight districts encompass a total of 51 assembly constituencies, where the party’s performance has been deemed disappointing, securing victories in only nine out of 51 seats. Notably, it failed to win any constituencies in the Virudhunagar, Theni, and Nilgiris districts.
The party has faced additional setbacks post-election, with three victorious legislators from Karur, Perundurai, and Viralimalai resigning from their assembly seats to join the ruling Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam (TVK), further diminishing the party’s effective strength.
Internal organizational issues have also surfaced in Cuddalore district, where AIADMK won three seats. MLA A. Arumozhithevan is among those who have rejected new organizational responsibilities assigned by Palaniswami. He was removed from his previous positions due to his conduct during a trust vote in the assembly two months ago.
The upcoming review meetings are expected to assess the reasons behind the electoral losses and develop strategies to strengthen the organization ahead of future political battles.
