New Delhi, February 24: Dr. Binay Kumar Singh, director of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation, stated that India is currently witnessing significant advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). He emphasized that AI is playing an invaluable role in realizing the vision of a ‘developed India’ by 2047, a contribution that is beyond mere words.
In an interview with a news agency on Tuesday, he expressed optimism about AI’s potential to contribute to the country’s development in the coming years. However, he lamented that certain individuals are attempting to obstruct this progress, which he firmly believes should not be tolerated.
Singh also addressed the issue of Naxalism, stating that it poses a significant hindrance to development efforts. He asserted that Naxalism aims to create obstacles in developmental projects, but the central government is committed to eradicating this menace from the country. “We cannot accept Naxalism in a civilized society; it is entirely unacceptable,” he remarked.
He further expressed disappointment that beyond Naxalism, there are others trying to impede development. A recent example of this was the protests by Congress workers, which Singh claims aimed to tarnish India’s image on the global stage. Initially, he thought these protests were minor antics by a few Congress leaders. However, he was dismayed when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi compared the protestors to “Baba Sher.” Singh suggested that if Gandhi had apologized for the incident, the situation would have been different, and his reputation would have improved in the public eye.
Singh criticized the manner in which Congress leaders protested during the AI summit, noting that people from all walks of life are condemning this act. Even academics across the country have denounced such protests. Recently, many scholars issued a joint statement asserting that such incidents should not occur in India, as they are entirely inappropriate and damage the nation’s international image.
He concluded by stating that the platform for AI should not be turned into a political arena, which is fundamentally wrong. AI is set to accelerate the path of development in the country, yet it is unfortunate that some Congress members are trying to exploit this for political gain, which is unacceptable at any cost.
