Afghan Security Forces Destroy Eight Heroin Labs, Arrest 17 Suspects
Afghan forces dismantled eight heroin labs in Ghor province, arresting 17 drug suspects in a major anti-narcotics operation.

Kabul, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Afghan security forces have successfully dismantled eight clandestine heroin laboratories in Ghor province, arresting 17 individuals suspected of drug trafficking. This operation took place on November 1, as confirmed by a local police official.
According to provincial police spokesperson Maulvi Abdul Rahman Badri, the raid was conducted based on intelligence reports and tips. The operation targeted the outskirts of the Chaharsada district, where the illicit labs were located.
During the raid, authorities seized a significant quantity of chemicals and narcotics used in heroin production, effectively neutralizing the operations. Badri noted that all arrested suspects have been taken into custody and handed over to judicial authorities. Their cases have been forwarded for further legal action.
This operation is part of a broader national anti-narcotics campaign aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks and illegal cultivation throughout Afghanistan. Just weeks earlier, on October 18, police in Farah province incinerated nearly a ton of illegal drugs, including 955 kilograms of opium-related substances and 36 kilograms of methamphetamine, all seized in separate operations.
Additionally, on October 16, the Information and Culture Directorate in Helmand province reported that anti-narcotics police confiscated 136 kilograms of opium-related drugs and arrested three suspects during an operation in Sangin district.
The crackdown on illegal drugs has intensified, with police in Herat province destroying 161 tons of various illicit substances as part of a year-long anti-drug campaign.
These coordinated efforts highlight the ongoing struggle against Afghanistan’s entrenched drug economy.
