Punjab Police dismantled a drug trafficking network in Amritsar, arresting two suspects and seizing 5 kg of heroin.

Amritsar, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Punjab Police achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking. The Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking network, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of 5 kilograms of heroin.
This information was shared through a post on the official social media account of the Punjab Director General of Police (DGP). The post highlighted the operation’s success, stating, “Counter Intelligence in Amritsar has uncovered a network involved in drug trafficking. Two individuals have been arrested, and 5 kilograms of heroin have been recovered.”
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were sourcing heroin from unidentified associates and distributing it across various parts of Punjab. This network had been operational for an extended period, facilitating the supply of heroin that crossed borders into the state.
An FIR has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar. Police officials indicated that a thorough investigation is underway to identify all individuals connected to this trafficking network, aiming to dismantle it entirely. Interrogations of the arrested suspects are ongoing, focusing on their connections and operations.
The Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to making the state safe and drug-free by tackling drug trafficking and dismantling organized drug networks. They have been actively engaged in operations targeting such networks.
In recent months, with assistance from Counter Intelligence and the Special Task Force (STF), Punjab Police have dismantled several significant drug trafficking modules. Reports of heroin smuggling via drones have emerged from border districts such as Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Gurdaspur. The police are now closely monitoring drone movements and collaborating with central agencies to combat this issue.
