New Delhi, May 30: Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Chief of the Indian Navy, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 29. This meeting took place just before the handover of naval command scheduled for May 31.
During the discussion, Admiral Tripathi provided the Prime Minister with detailed insights into the operational readiness of the Indian Navy and the overall security situation in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
A photograph of the meeting was shared on the official ‘X’ handle of the Navy, highlighting that the conversation also covered emerging challenges in maritime security and the impact of rapidly evolving technology. Admiral Tripathi assured the Prime Minister that the Indian Navy is fully committed to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests as a reliable, consistent, and self-reliant force prepared for future challenges.
The Navy stated, “The Indian Navy is ready to protect its national maritime interests anytime, anywhere, and in any manner.”
On May 31, Admiral Tripathi will officially hand over command to the new Chief. He briefed the Prime Minister on the Navy’s current capabilities, modernization programs, the incorporation of indigenous weapons, and the growing security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.
This meeting is deemed significant, especially in light of China’s increasing activities in the Indian Ocean, maritime security, the protection of trade routes, and the emergence of new technologies such as drones, hypersonic missiles, and cyber threats.
The Indian Navy has been continuously enhancing its capabilities. In recent years, there has been a surge in the development of indigenous warships, submarines, and aircraft, contributing to the Navy’s modernization efforts. Under Admiral Tripathi’s leadership, the Navy has played a crucial role in achieving the goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).
PM Modi praised the Navy’s preparedness and assured full support in addressing future challenges.
