His early fame brought recognition, but it also came with responsibilities that arrived just as quickly. In a recent interview, Aditya revealed that he had to pay income tax at the tender age of seven. This revelation surprised many, as most children are busy with school and play at that age, while Aditya was already a professional artist.
Aditya Narayan was born on August 6, 1987, in Mumbai. His father, Udit Narayan, is a renowned playback singer, and his mother, Deepa Narayan, is also a singer. Growing up in a musical environment, he began singing at a very young age. He received his initial music training from the famous composer Kalyanji Veerji Shah and showcased his talent on the stage of ‘Little Wonders.’
In 1992, Aditya sang his first song for the Nepali film ‘Mohini.’ He later performed alongside his father in the 1995 film ‘Akele Hum Akele Tum.’ His voice quickly gained popularity, leading to more opportunities in films. Director Subhash Ghai noticed his performance at a show and offered him a role as a child artist in the film ‘Pardes.’ He also appeared in films like ‘Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai.’
As a child singer, Aditya lent his voice to over 100 songs. The song ‘Chhota Bachcha Jaan Ke’ from the film ‘Masoom’ became his signature hit. This song was so popular that he received an award for Best Child Singer. His childhood success established him as one of the most popular child artists in the country.
In a podcast, Aditya shared an interesting anecdote from this period. He mentioned that he started earning at such a young age that he had to pay income tax by the age of seven. At that time, he did not fully grasp the value of money. Due to his early success, he was unaware of the significance of paying taxes at such a young age. It was only later, as he grew older, that he realized the considerable responsibilities he had undertaken in his childhood.
After his early success, Aditya aimed to establish himself as a leading artist. In 2010, he played the lead role in the film ‘Shapit.’ Although the film did not perform well at the box office, his songs in it received acclaim. Subsequently, he shifted his focus more towards music and television rather than films.
Aditya carved a new identity as a TV host. After starting with ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa,’ he hosted popular reality shows like ‘Indian Idol.’ His wit, style, and ability to connect with contestants resonated well with the audience. He also appeared as a contestant on shows like ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi.’
On the personal front, Aditya Narayan married actress Shweta Agarwal in 2020. In 2022, they welcomed their first baby. Since becoming a father, Aditya has stated in several interviews that family is now his top priority.
