Mumbai, August 5: Actress Archana Puran Singh has emphasized the need for society to change its perspective on the younger generation. She believes that we often form quick judgments about Gen Z. The behavior of any generation largely depends on the environment we provide them.
In a recent interview, the actress stated that today’s youth merely reflect the surroundings in which they have grown up. Comparing them to previous generations is fundamentally unfair.
She remarked, “I think we have become more judgmental as a society. If children are behaving a certain way, there must be a reason behind it. They will be shaped by their environment. If you change the environment, the children will change too. So, it’s not their fault.”
When asked why children are often held accountable for behaviors shaped by their parents and society, she responded, “If I have grandchildren and they exhibit certain behaviors, and I compare them to my children, that would be incorrect. Children do not learn behaviors in a vacuum; they are taught by us and society.”
Discussing the growing influence of technology on Gen Z, she pointed out that this generation is growing up in circumstances vastly different from those experienced by previous generations. “We were born in a specific time, so we behaved according to that era. Gen Z is growing up in the age of technology. They have access to gadgets at an early age. Children have always misbehaved, but now they have gadgets and computers—things we could only dream of. They must adapt to this new world; it is their reality.”
