Visakhapatnam, October 14 (Daily Kiran): In a landmark move set to redefine India’s digital landscape, Adani Enterprises, through its joint venture AdaniConneX, and Bharti Airtel have announced a strategic partnership with Google to establish India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Airtel Partner

The initiative, revealed at the Bharat AI Shakti event in New Delhi, marks one of the most significant technology collaborations in India’s history. It aims to accelerate AI adoption, strengthen India’s digital backbone, and advance the government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

A $15 Billion Investment for India’s AI Future

Google’s AI hub represents a multi-faceted investment worth USD 15 billion (2026–2030) — its largest in India to date. The project will feature gigawatt-scale data centers powered by clean energy, an international subsea gateway, and a state-of-the-art Cable Landing Station (CLS) to host Google’s new global subsea cables.

Airtel will build a robust fibre network connecting the hub intra- and inter-city, ensuring low-latency, high-capacity connectivity. AdaniConneX will develop the data center infrastructure, combining Adani’s scale with EdgeConneX’s global data expertise.

Sustainability and Energy Innovation

The partnership emphasizes clean energy and sustainability, with co-investments planned in new transmission lines, renewable power generation, and energy storage systems in Andhra Pradesh. This will not only support the hub’s power needs but also strengthen India’s electricity grid resilience.

India’s AI Engine

The Visakhapatnam AI Hub will host TPU and GPU compute clusters for deep learning, neural network training, and large-scale AI model deployment. It aims to power AI solutions across key sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, logistics, and finance — making it a cornerstone of India’s AI revolution.

Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and MD of Bharti Airtel, called the initiative a “defining moment” for India’s digital future.

“By combining world-class AI infrastructure with our nation’s extraordinary talent, we are laying the foundation for India to lead in the AI-driven era,” he said.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, described the project as an investment in India’s future:

“This is more than infrastructure — it is an investment in the soul of a rising nation. Visakhapatnam is now set to become a global destination for technology.”

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the global scale of the initiative:

“Meeting the demands of India’s AI mission requires cutting-edge infrastructure and ubiquitous connectivity. Working with Airtel and Adani, we are creating the backbone to power inclusive growth across India.”

Government Endorsements

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hailed the project as a key milestone in India’s AI Mission, while Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the state was proud to host “India’s first gigawatt-scale data center and Google’s first AI hub in India.”

When operational, the facility will join Google’s global network of AI data centers across 12 countries, supported by R&D from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune. The hub is also expected to create tens of thousands of jobs in technology, construction, and clean energy sectors.

A New Digital Gateway for India

The project will include multiple international subsea cables landing in Visakhapatnam, linking India to Google’s global terrestrial and undersea infrastructure — positioning the city as a new AI and data connectivity gateway for Asia.
