Actress Pratibha Ranta Discusses Her Role in ‘The Revolutionaries’ as Freedom Fighter Pratibha Lahiri

Mumbai, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Pratibha Ranta, who portrays the freedom fighter Pratibha Lahiri in the series ‘The Revolutionaries,’ recently opened up about her character during a promotional event in Mumbai. She was joined by fellow cast members including Nikhil Advani, Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, and Gurfateh Pirzada.

In her conversation, Ranta noted the scarcity of public knowledge regarding Pratibha Lahiri. She recalled a discussion with Nikhil Advani, who emphasized the need to explore Lahiri’s life. Ranta shared a poignant moment from history: when revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad had only one bullet left in his gun, he chose to take his own life to avoid capture by the British. Following this, Pratibha Lahiri honored his memory by applying his ashes on the foreheads of young revolutionaries.

Ranta reflected on the significance of conveying the sacrifices made for India’s freedom. She expressed curiosity about what Lahiri must have been like at just 17 years old, the societal norms she faced, and her perspective on the world. “Pratibha Lahiri was an inquisitive girl,” Ranta stated, emphasizing her desire to learn about everything happening around her.

The actress also highlighted Lahiri’s passion for education and her intelligence. She noted that Lahiri was adept at deciphering coded letters exchanged between herself and Sachindranath Sanyal, showcasing her sharp mind.

‘The Revolutionaries’ tells the stories of four freedom fighters: Ras Bihari Bose, Pratibha Lahiri, Sachindranath Sanyal, and Bagha Jatin, who actively resisted British rule. The series, inspired by true events, is set against the backdrop of India’s struggle for independence and features notable performances from Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Jason Shah.

The show emphasizes the belief among these revolutionaries that armed resistance was not only necessary but inevitable to end British rule.
