Udaipur – Acting on directions from ACB headquarters, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Dungarpur unit conducted a major operation and arrested two forest guards red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 80,000 at Forest Check Post Katarwas, Forest Range Khairwada, District Udaipur. The arrested accused are Mahesh Kumar Meena and Vijesh Ahari.
ACB Rajasthan Director General Police Govind Gupta informed that ACB Dungarpur received a complaint stating that the complainant and his partner jointly conduct timber business. On November 29, 2025, the complainant was transporting eucalyptus and semal wood from Falasia to Kherwada in truck number GJ 09 AU 1283. Similarly, another vehicle numbered RJ 27 GB 4806 was instructed to transport eucalyptus wood from Jhalod to Kherwada to Bhairulalji Suthar’s place. Both vehicles had valid bills with them.
On the morning of November 30, 2025, around 8 AM, the complainants received information that both vehicles had been stopped at Forest Check Post Katarwas. It is alleged that the accused forest guards demanded bribe money in exchange for releasing truck number GJ 09 AU 1283 without any action. On November 30, 2025, verification of the bribe demand was conducted, in which both accused forest guards were found agreeing to take a bribe of Rs 80,000.
Following this, today on December 1, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Deputy Inspector General Police First, and led by Ratan Singh Rajpurohit, Deputy Superintendent Police, ACB Dungarpur, along with Police Inspector Rajendra Singh and team, a trap action was conducted. During the operation, both accused forest guards Mahesh Kumar Meena and Vijesh Ahari were detained and arrested while taking a bribe of Rs 80,000 on the spot.
Under the supervision of Additional Director General Police Smita Srivastava of ACB, interrogation of the accused and further action is ongoing. ACB will register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and conduct further investigation in the matter.
