8BitDo Unveils FlipPad, a Portrait Gaming Controller for Smartphones

8BitDo has introduced the FlipPad, a new game controller designed specifically for portrait-mode gaming on both Android and iOS smartphones.

The FlipPad connects directly to a smartphone’s USB-C port and flips up to cover the lower half of the screen, revealing the gaming controls. This unique portrait orientation distinguishes the FlipPad from 8BitDo’s previous mobile controllers.

The controller features 8BitDo’s signature G Classic design with a black directional pad, burgundy ABXY buttons, and gray Start and Select buttons. Additionally, it includes six white buttons whose functions are yet to be detailed by the company. Based on prior releases, more color options may be introduced in the future.

Compatible with both Android and iOS devices, the FlipPad is officially supported by Apple, indicating smooth integration with iOS games and input standards.

While pricing details have not been disclosed, the FlipPad is expected to launch in summer 2026. Attendees of CES 2026 will have the opportunity to experience the controller firsthand at the LVCC Central Hall, Booth #15641.
