Ramdevra, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The 642nd fair dedicated to Baba Ramdevji, a revered figure in Western Rajasthan, officially began on Sunday at the sacred site of Ramdevra. The event was marked by a ceremonial gathering at Baba’s samadhi, attended by District Collector Anupama Jorwal, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare, descendants of Baba, and members of the samadhi committee.
According to reports, Baba’s descendants performed a traditional Panchamrit abhishek at the samadhi. Following this, the District Collector and the SP adorned the samadhi with a velvet cloth. The fair commenced with a morning aarti, signaling the start of festivities.
As the fair opened, a wave of devotees from across the country poured into Ramdevra to pay their respects at Baba’s samadhi. Long queues of worshippers were seen both inside the temple complex and in the surrounding areas. Authorities implemented extensive arrangements to manage the crowd and ensure the comfort of the attendees.
In a media interaction, District Collector Anupama Jorwal emphasized that the safety and convenience of the devotees were top priorities. Water facilities were set up for those waiting in long lines. To combat the heat and manage the crowd, fogging machines were deployed throughout the fairgrounds. Female police officers were stationed at various points, alongside health checkpoints to provide immediate care if needed. SDRF teams were also on standby near the Runiya Sarovar to address any emergencies.
The Collector noted that this year’s fair was being organized under special circumstances, particularly in light of upcoming municipal elections. The administration made necessary preparations to ensure both the convenience of the devotees and law and order. A substantial police presence was deployed to prevent any untoward incidents during the event. Jorwal described Baba Ramdevji as a deity of social harmony, who has aided everyone without discrimination, and expressed hopes for happiness, peace, and prosperity for all.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare stated that security measures have been strengthened compared to previous years. The number of CCTV cameras in the fair area has been increased, and metal barriers were installed to manage the flow of devotees and prevent stampedes. Over 2,000 police and security personnel were deployed to maintain order and safety, with special surveillance over entry and exit routes as well as crowded areas.
