14th National Committee of Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference Opens in Beijing

Beijing, March 5: The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) officially commenced its fourth plenary session on March 4 in Beijing. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior leaders, including Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China.

Wang Huning, Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presented a work report on behalf of the Standing Committee to the assembly. In his address, he provided a comprehensive review of the political advisory work over the past year, highlighting key achievements and experiences gained. He also outlined the priorities and plans for the current year.

This plenary session will last for a total of seven days. Over 2,000 members from 34 different sectors are participating in the conference. These members will discuss the work report of the CPPCC National Committee’s Standing Committee and address proposals submitted since the last plenary session.

Additionally, conference members will attend the annual session of the National People’s Congress (NPC), where they will listen to government work reports and express their opinions. They will also review the draft outline of the proposed 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development. Through this process, members will present their suggestions and insights on significant policy issues related to the country’s politics, economy, culture, and other social sectors.

It is noteworthy that the CPPCC serves as a patriotic united front organization representing the Chinese people. It operates under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, facilitating multi-party cooperation and political consultation.
