Jaipur, October 15 (Daily Kiran): The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police have arrested a wanted criminal, Saurabh Singh, accused of preparing and selling fake educational documents. Singh, who had a reward of ₹25,000 on his head, was arrested under the direction of the Additional Director General of Police (ATS & SOG), Jaipur.

The case began after the Senior Superintendent of the Ajmer Postal Division filed a written complaint stating that under the GDS Online Engagement 2023 (Schedule-II), a candidate named Lokesh Yadav had applied for a postal job by submitting a forged Class 10 marksheet purportedly issued by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. When the marksheet was sent for verification, the CISCE board denied issuing it.

Following the complaint, FIR No. 38/2024, dated May 31, 2024, was registered under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120B of the IPC. During the investigation, three suspects — Lokesh Yadav (Bhoopkheda, Behror, Alwar), Vikas Kumar Yadav, and Hitesh Yadav — were arrested.

The arrested individuals revealed that they had purchased the fake marksheet for ₹35,000 from Saurabh Singh, who operated an e-Mitra center in Rewari, Haryana. Singh had been absconding for over a year, prompting the ATS and SOG to announce a cash reward for his capture.

On October 13, 2025, police successfully arrested Saurabh Singh. From his possession, officers recovered a HP laptop, a Vivo mobile phone, a hard disk, pen drives, and several forged marksheets and certificates from different universities and institutions.

During interrogation, Singh confessed to preparing fake documents using his laptop. He created counterfeit marksheets, degree certificates, diplomas, and official documents featuring genuine-looking logos, QR codes, seals, and scanned signatures of authorized officials.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Singh and his associates targeted unemployed youth across Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, promising them government jobs in exchange for money. The gang produced forged educational certificates to support fake job applications and charged heavy amounts from victims.

Police said that Singh’s laptop and storage devices contained hundreds of fake educational records from various universities, which appeared identical to genuine documents. A detailed forensic and technical investigation is underway to trace other members of the gang and identify victims who purchased these forged documents.

Saurabh Singh has been remanded to police custody till October 17, 2025, for further interrogation.
