YSR Congress Accuses TDP Coalition of Targeting Critics in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : YSR Congress Party’s youth wing president and former MLA, Jakkampudi Raja, accused the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh of intimidating youth who question its failure to fulfill electoral promises. Speaking at a media event in Rajahmundry, Raja alleged that police surveillance is being used against YSR Congress leaders, social media activists, and journalists who raise concerns about the government’s performance.

He pointed out that unemployed youth demanding job opportunities, police constable recruitment, and the promised employment calendar are being targeted. Raja criticized the government’s actions against coaching centers, claiming there is undue pressure on them.

According to Raja, the government is utilizing intelligence and cybercrime departments to profile Gen-Z youth, WhatsApp groups, Facebook, Instagram users, YouTubers, and influencers. He described the monitoring of coaching center management and the collection of teachers’ details as an abuse of state machinery.

Raja expressed concern that the deployment of police against critics has led to a breakdown of law and order. He referenced a recent incident in Tirupati, where police took action against female paramedical students demanding scholarships, condemning the government’s heavy-handed response. He insisted that if the government cannot keep its promises, it should apologize rather than silence those who demand accountability.

He warned that attempts to control the youth could lead to significant movements, citing historical examples from East Germany, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and student protests in Gujarat and Bihar. Raja questioned whether the government would take action against Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for his comments on irregularities in the Andhra Pradesh DSC.

Citing a report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), Raja claimed the coalition government has plunged the state into a severe financial crisis, relying heavily on loans and overdrafts. He called for immediate implementation of the promised ₹3,000 monthly unemployment allowance and the annual employment calendar, emphasizing the need for transparency in filling millions of permanent government positions.

Raja announced that YSR Congress president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will soon embark on another foot march to engage directly with the public and understand their issues.
