Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, August 6: A significant controversy has emerged in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar regarding the core committee of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP). A group of young activists staged a protest outside the residence of Abhijit Dipke, accusing the party leadership of nepotism and bias. They are demanding representation for all coordinators involved in the student movement linked to Jantar Mantar.
The protesters claim they have been active since the inception of the Jantar Mantar student movement, playing crucial roles as coordinators. They allege that the recent core committee meeting only included close associates of Abhijit Dipke, while many dedicated activists were overlooked.
According to the demonstrators, this movement is not just about one individual but represents the youth of the entire nation. They assert that approximately 450 individuals were involved as coordinators in the Jantar Mantar movement, yet they were excluded from the meeting.
The youth also accused party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka of failing to provide clear answers during late-night discussions about the meeting and the movement. They have warned that they will continue their protest and hunger strike outside Abhijit Dipke’s home until all youth associated with the movement receive proper representation.
CJP activist Manish Brahmbhatt stated in a media interaction, “A group has been formed, and everyone agrees that if things progress democratically, it will benefit the country. We shouldn’t have to make this statement publicly; it is disheartening. But unless we raise our voices, we will not be heard. We realized this around 1:00 AM and had to take this step. From today, we are abstaining from food and water until decisions are made transparently and democratically. Until then, we cannot call this movement a true national movement.”
Brahmbhatt emphasized, “My goal, along with our comrades, is clear. Everyone is asking why only a select few are making decisions. If we truly believe in democracy, decisions should be made democratically. It is unacceptable to fill meetings with family members and friends while excluding others and ignoring crucial issues. There should be no place for nepotism and bias in this movement.”
He further remarked, “Let them hold their meetings. Those involved must understand that Rahul Gandhi called five key figures from the movement yesterday. Now, these are the faces of our movement. If they were invited to the meeting, they would not even be considered leaders. Many are hurt and should have been invited for consultation. If we continue to operate this way, how long will this movement last?”
Brahmbhatt concluded, “We are here and will remain until the team decides to include all volunteers and representatives from every state in the movement, without nepotism or bias, and ensure decisions are made democratically. Until then, it cannot become a national movement. We want accountability to prevent the nation from being misled again, for the leaders of the movement, ourselves, and everyone involved. We seek a transparent movement.”
