Young All-Rounder Rachin Ravindra Returns Home Without Playing a Match in IPL 2026

New Delhi, May 16: In IPL 2026, several players have garnered attention for their impressive performances. However, some, like New Zealand’s young all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, have not had the opportunity to play a single match this season. Ravindra has returned home midway through the tournament.

Ravindra was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who acquired him for ₹2 crore during the auction. KKR has played 11 matches this season and is nearly out of the playoff race, with three league matches remaining. Unfortunately, Ravindra did not get to play in any of the last 11 matches. He decided to return home to focus on New Zealand’s upcoming series.

KKR confirmed this news, stating, “Rachin Ravindra has returned home to prepare for New Zealand’s upcoming Test tour to England.”

On Instagram, KKR shared a video showing Rachin saying goodbye to his teammates with handshakes and hugs. The post included a message from the captain wishing him well as he heads home for national duty.

Ravindra typically bats in the top order or top four. KKR has given opportunities to players like Rahane, Cypher, Allen, Green, and Raghuvanshi in those positions, which is why Ravindra did not play. Additionally, only four foreign players can be included in the playing eleven, limiting his chances further.

Previously, Ravindra was part of the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024 and IPL 2025, where he played 18 matches and scored 413 runs, including two half-centuries. He was released by Chennai before IPL 2026.

Now, Ravindra will prepare for the Test series against England.
