Yogi Government Unveils Comprehensive Fertilizer Supply Plan for Farmers by 2026

Lucknow, April 3: The Yogi government has devised a comprehensive and organized fertilizer supply plan aimed at ensuring timely availability for farmers by April 2026. This initiative seeks to prevent any fertilizer shortages in the state and maintain smooth agricultural operations.

The state government emphasizes the adequate availability of key fertilizers such as urea, DAP (di-ammonium phosphate), and NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium). Senior officials from the agriculture department have been instructed to ensure that fertilizer supplies are pre-arranged according to demand in each district, preventing any inconvenience for farmers during sowing and crop growth periods.

Additionally, committees will be formed at all fertilizer sales centers under the supervision of district magistrates. Personnel from the agriculture and revenue departments, along with other relevant departments, will be assigned duties to ensure transparency in distribution. Strict action will be taken against anti-social elements hoarding fertilizers to create artificial shortages. There will also be intensive monitoring of fertilizer diversion in non-agricultural sectors, such as plywood industries and animal feed production units. Awareness campaigns will be launched in rural areas to promote the balanced use of fertilizers (maximum of 7 bags of urea and 5 bags of DAP per hectare) and discourage advance storage.

The plan also aims to strengthen the role of cooperative societies in fertilizer distribution. The government has decided to increase the share of fertilizer distribution through cooperative institutions, enhancing both transparency and accessibility. At the same time, a proposal has been made to allocate approximately 35% of the quota to the private sector, ensuring an effective supply chain.

To monitor fertilizer distribution, the government has implemented a strict monitoring system. Regular review meetings will be held at the district level, and officials have been directed to take immediate action against any form of black marketing or hoarding. Furthermore, a real-time tracking system will oversee fertilizer availability and distribution. This well-planned strategy aims to provide farmers with timely and adequate fertilizer supplies, boosting crop production and strengthening the agricultural sector. This initiative is considered a significant step in favor of the state’s farmers.
