Meerut, August 8: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath celebrated the auspicious occasion of the Dashami Tithi of Shravan month in Meerut by showering flowers on devotees of Lord Shiva. Alongside him were local representatives, including Arun Govil, the MP from Meerut and known for his role as Lord Ram in the Ramayana serial, who honored the faith of the Kanwariyas by showering rose petals on them.
In addition, flower petals were also dropped from helicopters along the entire Kanwar route. The air resonated with the chants of “Har Har, Bam Bam” from the Kanwariyas, filling Western Uttar Pradesh with spiritual fervor. Chief Minister Adityanath described the Kanwar Yatra as a remarkable example of devotion, dedication, and social and national unity. He welcomed and honored all Kanwariyas on behalf of the state government. Before arriving at the event, he observed the Kanwar Yatra from a helicopter.
He paid tribute to the devotion of the devotees who came from various regions of the state and instructed administrative officials to ensure the safety, respect, and convenience of the Kanwariyas. The chants of “Har Har Bam Bam” echoed as the pilgrims carried holy Ganga water for rituals at Shiva temples.
By showering flowers on the devotees, Chief Minister Adityanath conveyed that this is a government that respects faith. The procession featured representations of “Baba’s followers” in various forms, with some reveling in the spirit of Lord Shiva, while others displayed reverence as Kartikeya and Ganesh. Even figures resembling spirits were seen riding on the chariot.
Songs like “Jo Ram Ko Laye Hain, Hum Unko Layeinge” filled the atmosphere with divine energy. Many devotees and onlookers captured this moment of faith and enthusiasm on their mobile phones. Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Adityanath noted that the sacred Kanwar Yatra is reaching its peak during the Shravan month. The Kanwariyas are rapidly moving towards sacred Shiva temples to perform rituals with the holy water collected from Haridwar.
The Chief Minister mentioned that a large crowd of devotees had gathered at Shiv Chowk in Muzaffarnagar. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to shower flowers on the Kanwariyas alongside local representatives in Meerut. Millions of Shiva devotees from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh are participating in the Kanwar Yatra with enthusiasm.
Adityanath assured that the administration is fully prepared to welcome and ensure the safety of the Kanwariyas. The devotees, who are walking hundreds of kilometers with devotion to Lord Shiva, exemplify unity and harmony beyond caste, region, and state boundaries.
He highlighted the vibrant atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy. The administration has made diligent security arrangements. District administration, sector magistrates, joint magistrates, police personnel, and various police officials are all working together to ensure safety with a spirit of devotion. Social and charitable organizations are also providing support and facilities for the Kanwariyas through various camps.
The Chief Minister thanked all these organizations for their contributions. He described this as the pinnacle of devotion, stating that flower showers will continue from helicopters for the Kanwariyas today, tomorrow, and the day after (Shivratri). He prayed to Lord Shiva to fulfill the wishes of the devotees participating in the Kanwar Yatra this Shravan month and to maintain peace and harmony in the state and country.
