Mumbai, April 22: A significant theft has been reported at the residence of TV actor Vipul Roy. The actor claims that a maid, hired through an online service, stole ₹7.1 lakhs in cash and jewelry from his flat. Based on his complaint, the Khar police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
According to police reports, Vipul Roy resides with his family on the 10th floor of the Kalaniketan building on SV Road in Khar West. He frequently hired helpers through a company app for household chores. On April 6, 2026, he called a woman named Deepali Sanjay Kharwa for cleaning and other tasks. This woman had previously worked in his home four times, giving her insight into the rooms, cupboards, and family routines.
The woman arrived around 9:45 AM on April 6. During her cleaning, she instructed that no one should enter the room with wet feet, as she was tidying up. After locking the room from the inside, she emerged about 15 minutes later, claiming her work was complete. The following day, when Roy opened the cupboard to retrieve something, he discovered that cash and jewelry were missing. This led him to suspect that the maid had committed the theft.
The stolen items included 30 notes of $100, 7,000 UAE Dirhams, 14,500 Thai Baht, a silver bracelet, and two gold-diamond rings, totaling approximately ₹7.1 lakhs.
On April 21, 2026, the Khar police filed a theft case against the accused woman. They are currently investigating using CCTV footage, online booking details, and the suspect’s location. Notably, Vipul Roy first gained recognition as a contestant on the reality show “India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj.” He later hosted the singing reality show “Saregamapa Mega Challenge” and co-hosted “Wheel Ghar Ghar Mein” with Maniesh Paul. He has also appeared in shows like “Tujhko Hai Salaam Zindagi,” “Chehra,” “FIR,” “Jeeni Aur Juju,” “Sahib Biwi Aur Boss,” “Dr. Madhumati On Duty,” “Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double,” and “Naye Shaadi Ke Siyape.”
