Xiaomi Excludes Several Models from HyperOS 3.1 Update

Xiaomi is nearing the completion of its HyperOS 3 update rollout while working on the next version, HyperOS 3.1, which will be based on Android 16. However, a significant number of Xiaomi smartphones will not receive this important update.

Reports from Xiaomi Time reveal that HyperOS 3.1 relies heavily on Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capabilities and the new Android 16 framework to support features such as Live Updates and app pre-compilation. These technical requirements mean many Xiaomi devices are incompatible with HyperOS 3.1.

The devices excluded from the HyperOS 3.1 upgrade include several high-end Xiaomi models, Poco’s high-performance phones, and select Redmi K and Note series smartphones.

Xiaomi’s high-end devices not receiving HyperOS 3.1:

Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro, Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 12T Pro, Xiaomi MIX FOLD 2, Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14, Xiaomi Civi 2, Xiaomi Civi 3, and Xiaomi 13 Lite.

Poco devices excluded from the update:

POCO F5 5G, POCO F5 Pro, POCO M6 Pro, POCO X6 Neo, and POCO C65.

Redmi K and Note series models not supported:

Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro, Redmi K50 Ultra, Redmi Note 12 Turbo, Redmi Note 12T Pro, Redmi Note 13 5G, and Redmi Note 13R Pro.

Additionally, any device that did not qualify for the original HyperOS 3 update will also miss out on HyperOS 3.1.

Owners of affected devices can expect continued security patches for some time, but major HyperOS updates are unlikely. Users with older Xiaomi smartphones are advised to consider upgrading to newer models to benefit from the latest features and security improvements.

Xiaomi offers a list of devices that come with up to six years of software support, which may help users choose models that remain relevant over the long term.
