Wife and Lover Arrested in Shocking Murder Plot in Hazaribagh
A wife and her lover have been arrested for the murder of her husband in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, in a plot to secure a job.

Hazaribagh, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : In Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, police have swiftly solved the murder case of Mangalesh Pal, also known as Happy, just 24 hours after the crime occurred. The investigation led to the arrest of his wife, Sonali, her cousin, and alleged lover, Kaushik Kumar Nauniya, along with a minor. Authorities recovered the murder weapon and other key evidence from the scene.
During a press conference, Amit Anand, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Barkagaon, revealed that this gruesome plot had been in the making for nearly a year. Sonali and Kaushik had previously attempted to eliminate Mangalesh multiple times but had failed. The investigation uncovered that Sonali aimed to secure a job at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) through compassionate grounds after her husband’s murder.
Following the crime, Sonali tried to mislead both the police and the community. She fabricated a story claiming that unidentified intruders had broken into their home, bound her with ropes, and brutally killed her husband. Her intention was to portray the incident as a robbery gone wrong, hoping to divert suspicion away from herself.
However, forensic evidence and technical analysis debunked her fabricated narrative. A special investigation team, formed under the directive of Hazaribagh’s Superintendent of Police, meticulously examined the crime scene with the help of forensic experts and a dog squad.
As police pressed the suspects with circumstantial and technical evidence, their lies unraveled, leading them to confess. The investigation yielded blood-stained knives, cleaning materials, two mobile phones, and clothing belonging to both the victim and the suspects.
According to police reports, Kaushik had been living illegally in a CCL quarter near the Citizen Forum School in Giddi, while the minor is from the Mandatan area of Giddi. The adult suspects have been remanded to jail, and legal proceedings against the minor are underway under juvenile justice laws.
