Specialists recommend that laptop users keep the screen at eye level to avoid bending the neck forward. An ideal posture includes keeping the back straight, shoulders relaxed, and neck well-supported. The computer screen should be at eye level or slightly below to prevent frequent up-and-down head movements. The keyboard should be positioned so that the elbows form an angle of about 90 to 100 degrees. Placing the keyboard slightly lower or around elbow level helps reduce pressure on the shoulders and neck.

Using a laptop stand is highly advisable since laptop screens are usually positioned low, which contributes to ‘tech neck’ issues. Experts emphasize the importance of neck exercises, recommending daily neck range-of-motion movements such as gently turning the head forward, backward, and side to side. These exercises strengthen muscles and improve endurance for prolonged work sessions.

It is advised to take breaks every 30 to 45 minutes. During these breaks, standing up, walking a little, and doing light neck stretches can be beneficial. The chair should provide proper support, and feet must rest flat on the floor. For those working extensively on a laptop, using an external keyboard and mouse is recommended.
