New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran): Consumers have received some relief on the inflation front as wholesale inflation eased further in September. According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday, India’s wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation dropped to 0.13% in September, compared to 0.52% in August. A year ago, in September 2024, it stood at 1.91%.

The ministry attributed the decline to a sharp fall in food and fuel prices. Prices of food items fell 5.22% in September, compared to a 3.06% decline in August. Vegetable prices dropped 24.41%, a steep fall from 14.18% in the previous month.
In manufactured products, inflation eased slightly to 2.33% in September from 2.55% in August. Fuel and power prices declined 2.58% in September, following a 3.17% fall in August.
The ministry noted that the positive inflation rate in September 2025 was mainly driven by price increases in food products, textiles, other manufacturing items, and transport equipment.
It is noteworthy that retail inflation in September fell to an eight-year low of 1.5%, offering further comfort to consumers. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which monitors retail inflation closely, had kept policy rates unchanged at 5.5% earlier this month.
