India Poised to Lead Global AI Innovation with Digital Infrastructure and Engineering Talent
India is set to become a global leader in AI innovation, leveraging its digital infrastructure and engineering talent, say industry executives.

Seattle, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : India’s robust digital infrastructure and a vast pool of engineering talent position the country to emerge as a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, according to industry executives. This insight was shared during interviews held in Seattle.
In discussions, Vetri Valor, CEO and co-founder of Rhythm, and Anand Iyer, CEO of Veeam, emphasized the need for India to focus not only on job creation but also on establishing an innovation-driven ecosystem. Such an environment would enable millions of Indians to start and grow their own businesses.
Iyer noted that India has already laid a strong foundation for significant technological transformation through its digital identity and payment infrastructure. He stated, “India now has the opportunity to utilize AI to demonstrate results that can benefit humanity worldwide.”
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for strengthening India’s position in global innovation. “Creating a digital infrastructure that works for over a billion people is a monumental achievement,” he added.
Iyer highlighted India’s capacity to develop AI-based solutions in sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and public services. These applications could enhance crop yields, combat infectious diseases, and provide clear societal benefits.
According to him, India’s technology ecosystem not only meets domestic needs but also offers opportunities to create solutions that can be adopted globally.
Valor echoed many of these sentiments but stressed the importance of nurturing entrepreneurs alongside job creation. He pointed out that discussions on economic growth often focus solely on job creation, but the country must also work towards building an ecosystem that supports business startups.
With access to technology, talent, and AI, Valor believes India has the potential to nurture millions of entrepreneurs. He suggested that the Indian-American community could play a vital role in this transformation by sharing technical expertise, mentoring founders, and proposing policy ideas that help India navigate emerging technological changes.
He added that lessons learned from the entrepreneurial journeys of Indians in the U.S. could provide valuable insights for policymakers and new founders in India.
Discussing AI, Valor described it as a powerful medium that can make access to information and knowledge more universal. He noted that a lack of information has historically limited many individuals from realizing their full potential, and AI is helping to bridge that gap by making expertise and knowledge more accessible.
