Weather Alert: Rain and Hail Forecast for Rajasthan

Jaipur, March 28: Rajasthan is bracing for cloudy skies, rain, and possible hailstorms in the coming days, starting Saturday.

On March 28, scattered dust storms and light rain are expected in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner, as well as in the Shekhawati region of western Rajasthan.

According to the Meteorological Department, the influence of a western disturbance is likely to peak from March 29 to 31. Intense dust storms with wind speeds of 40-50 km/h and light to moderate rain may affect several areas, including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota.

During the first week of April, sporadic light rain is expected in the western and northern parts of the state due to ongoing western disturbances.

The Jaipur Meteorological Center issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for heavy rainfall in seven districts on March 28. Farmers have also been advised to take precautions. It is anticipated that temperatures will remain controlled across the state during the first week of April.

Meanwhile, the weather has been clear across Rajasthan over the past 24 hours, with most cities experiencing bright sunshine. Major cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Bikaner saw sunny conditions, leading to mild warmth in several areas.

Kota recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius, while Jaipur also experienced a significant rise in daytime temperatures due to clear skies.

The Jaipur Meteorological Center has warned of intermittent rain, thunder, and scattered hail from March 28 to April 1, with the possibility of this pattern continuing.

Farmers are advised to take precautionary measures to minimize crop damage. They should secure harvested crops in safe locations, protect stored produce in open markets, and ensure proper coverings to guard against rain and hail damage.

According to Radheshyam Sharma, director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, continuous rain and thunderstorms are expected in Rajasthan until April 1. He added that due to the ongoing weather systems in the first week of April, temperatures across the state are likely to remain around or below normal levels.
