Mumbai, April 14: Vivo launched the X Fold 5 in June last year, and early details about its successor, the X Fold 6, are already surfacing online. Although the launch is still some time away, a recent leak provides insights into what the company may be planning.
The information comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who suggests that the X Fold 6 could feature a 200MP main camera. If confirmed, this would likely utilize the same sensor found in the X300 and X300 Pro, enhancing detail in well-lit conditions. The sensor is also slightly larger than the 50MP unit on the X Fold 5 (1/1.4″ compared to 1/1.56″), potentially leading to a redesign of the camera island.
Battery capacity is another area expected to see significant improvement. The leak indicates a rated capacity of 6,760mAh, with a typical value nearing 7,000mAh. This marks a notable upgrade from the 6,000mAh battery in the X Fold 5.
Additionally, there is mention of a 50MP periscope lens with telemacro capabilities, hinting that close-up photography may be a feature once again. Vivo has previously implemented similar systems, so this would not be entirely new, but rather an evolution of existing technology.
Details beyond these features remain somewhat unclear. The leak hints at a new design language and accessory support but lacks specifics. On the performance front, the phone is expected to be powered by a flagship Snapdragon chip, although the exact model is yet to be confirmed. The X Fold 5 uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while its successor is speculated to incorporate the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
As with previous models, the X Fold 6 is likely to debut in China before a broader release follows.
Currently, it appears Vivo is concentrating on refining its existing strengths while pushing the boundaries further. However, it’s still early in the development process, and changes may occur before the official announcement.
