Vivo has started rolling out the OriginOS 6 update, based on Android 16, to select users of the Vivo V40 smartphone. The upgrade is currently available through a trial programme and will be released to all users as a stable update in the near future.
The update carries the firmware version PD2363BF_EX_A_16.2.6.15.W30 and comes with a substantial download size of 4.3GB. Users are advised to download the package over a Wi-Fi connection to ensure a smooth update process.
To participate in the trial build, Vivo V40 users can go to Settings > About Phone > System updates > version Trial > Trial version > download and install. It is recommended to have the device battery charged to at least 40% before installation. While rare, backing up important data before proceeding is also suggested to avoid any data loss.
After updating to OriginOS 6, users will experience several enhancements including a new Origin Island feature for real-time updates and a redesigned Control Center with an improved notification panel. The update also introduces enhanced lighting effects and fresh system fonts that improve readability.
The lock screen has been updated with new clock styles, better layout controls, and additional widgets. Underlying system optimisations have been made to enable faster app launches, smoother animations, better multitasking capabilities, and improved battery efficiency.
Originally launched in 2024 with Android 14, the Vivo V40 is now receiving its second major operating system upgrade. Vivo has confirmed that the device will also get Android 17 as its final OS update, followed by at least one more year of security updates to maintain device safety and performance.
