Mumbai, March 10: Vivo has introduced two innovative ZEISS telephoto extender lenses for the upcoming Vivo X300 Ultra, designed to elevate smartphone photography into the realm of long-range shooting. The 400mm teleconverter was previously showcased at MWC 2026, and now, product manager Han Boxiao has confirmed details about a new 200mm variant. These accessories aim to significantly enhance zoom capabilities while ensuring exceptional image clarity.
Vivo X300 Ultra to Feature 200mm and 400mm Telephoto Extender Lenses
The first accessory, the 400mm telephoto extender G2 Ultra, is tailored for creators. According to Boxiao, this lens provides an equivalent 400mm focal length, representing one of the highest magnification levels available in smartphone add-on optics. When combined with the Vivo X300 Ultra’s 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, the system can generate direct optical images at remarkably long focal lengths. Starting from a baseline 1x zoom at 23mm equivalent focal length, the setup achieves approximately 17.4x pure optical zoom with the 200-megapixel sensor.
Vivo also claims that the telephoto camera now features enhanced optical stabilization, including around 3° optical stabilization and a new high-refresh tracking system that maintains focus at up to 60fps. Even with the extender lens attached, the setup reportedly retains CIPA 4.5-level stabilization. This allows users to capture usable shots at focal lengths as extreme as 1600mm, making it easier to photograph distant subjects like wildlife or stage performances.
A Lightweight 200mm Extender for Enhanced Portability
In addition to the larger accessory, Vivo has launched a redesigned second-generation 200mm extender lens G2. This version is crafted to be lighter and more portable. The company reports a 27 percent weight reduction, bringing it down to approximately 153 grams while also minimizing its overall size.
Despite its compact design, the optical configuration has been upgraded. The lens now comprises 15 elements instead of the previous 13, which is expected to enhance image clarity while maintaining strong stabilization rated at CIPA 6.5. Vivo asserts that this compact design is practical for everyday shooting without sacrificing telephoto performance.
These accessories are part of Vivo’s extensive ZEISS camera ecosystem, which encompasses various focal lengths. The system includes lenses ranging from ultra-wide 14mm to standard 35mm and portrait-friendly 85mm, along with the newly introduced 200mm and 400mm options. The accompanying image also features a 2.35x ZEISS telephoto extender compatible with existing X300 models, likely to be supported by the X300 Ultra as well.
