Violence Escalates in Lebanon: Israeli Attacks Intensify in Tyre, Evacuations Ordered

Beirut, May 28: The Israeli military issued evacuation orders for residents of Tyre, a coastal city in southern Lebanon, on Thursday. The army stated that it would take action against the Iran-backed group Hezbollah in the area. The order emphasized that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would need to implement strict measures.

Residents living near certain buildings were instructed to relocate north of the Zahrani River. Meanwhile, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency, two people were killed and one injured in an Israeli airstrike on the village of Deir Aams, targeting Hezbollah positions.

These attacks come amid an escalation of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon. The Xinhua News Agency reported that Lebanon’s Civil Defense successfully rescued 29 civilians trapped in buildings damaged by drone and airstrikes in the towns of Dweir and Nabatiyeh.

The Israeli military reiterated previous evacuation orders for Nabatiyeh residents and subsequently issued similar warnings for the towns of Kfarhunna, Aramta, Malita, Jarjua, and Humain al-Fouqa.

On the other hand, Hezbollah claimed that its fighters targeted Israeli troops and military positions in Zoutar al-Sharkiya. The group asserted that it conducted a drone strike on an Israeli Merkava tank near Bustan Jattam and launched rockets, artillery, and heavy weaponry at Israeli soldiers and vehicles around Talalet al-Khazan and the river.

Hezbollah also reported that its fighters engaged Israeli soldiers near a scout complex in Zoutar al-Sharkiya around 9 AM, utilizing light and medium weapons, which forced the soldiers to retreat. Following this, the Israeli military responded with heavy bombardment in the area.

Additionally, Israeli warplanes struck a building in the Mashrou al-Rouj area near the entrance to Abbasiyah for the second time, completely destroying it. Airstrikes were also carried out near Tyre and the Rashidiyeh Palestinian refugee camp.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that the death toll from Israeli attacks, which began on March 2, has risen to 3,269 as of May 27, with 9,840 people injured.
